What Could Chelsea Do To Bounce Back?

The Blues have been struggling but there was still a little surprise Porto managed to defeat the Premier League Champions after another sub-par performance by Mourinho’s squad. Motivation may be lacking and key players have suffered massive drops in form. Both the offense and the defense lost composure and efficiency despite shining a couple of months back. The only one who seems to be in great shape is not even a first team pick normally. Begovic is probably the most impressive player Chelsea have right now even with the 4 goals he conceded during the last two games.

According to ESPN there are some changes which could have an impact on Chelsea’s future performances. The first might be to change the formation and include either Willan, Oscar or Kenedy in the defensive process. They don’t need to play like Matic in front of the defense but the could help Fabregas out. The Spaniard seems lost at times and disappears completely from the game. Having someone to take some of his responsibilities might really help. Going from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 system might come with some great results even if this means leaving someone on the bench.

One other change that might influence Chelsea’s results for the best would be to move Azpilicueta onto the right and integrate Baba Rahman in the first eleven. Last but not least, Hazard needs to recover. Not sure how that will be accomplished, but something needs to be done. The Belgium international’s poor form is affecting the entire attacking line. There are many things that could be tested but Mourinho is the one who decides in the end. Hopefully he will manage to get Chelsea’s spirit back and fight for the Champions League trophy and the domestic cups as the Premier League may be too far away already.
