Wenger Questions Lampard’s Proposed Extension At Man City!

The former Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard was destined to leave the Premier League after agreeing a move to New York City in Major League Soccer. However, City, who own the MLS side, made a six month loan offer to the former England international which he duly expected.

He already has made a difference to the Citizens by scoring the all-important equaliser against his old side Chelsea, and he also smashed two goals in City’s 7-0 rout of Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup in the week.

His performances have led to speculation that City will want to extend Lampard’s loan spell from the start of January by a further two months, given that the MLS season starts only in March. However, Wenger feels that any extension may not be morally right even though it might be within the legal guidelines, according to Daily Mail.

He said, “You always have two judgements, one is moral and one is legal and it just depends what you consider. I think ‘is it legal?’ You have to respect it after that and the player has to deal with his decisions. I respect the fact he wants to play at the top level and he maybe didn’t have that opportunity any more at Chelsea. I don’t really know (what) is behind all that.”
