Welcome N’Golo Kante!

Welcome N’Golo Kante!

Excellent news for Chelsea as Antonio Conte managed to convince Premier League champion N’Golo Kante to sign a 5 year deal with the Blues. The Frenchman was linked to a move to Stamford Bridge for a while now but it seems that it took Conte’s intervention to seal the deal. Leicester’s former player agreed to terms only after talking to Chelsea’s manager directly which might mean he has been offered a place in the starting eleven. Kante will probably be featured next to Matic in a 3-5-2 formation which will allow the two to play together with either Fabregas or Oscar in front of them.

Here is what Kante had to say in his first statement as reported by the Daily Star: “I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s a dream come true for me. The opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down. My first season in English football was very special and now I hope to go on to achieve even more during my time as a Chelsea player. I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and helping the club achieve a lot of success.”

Kante is expected to bring consistency to a Chelsea midfield that lacked determination during last season. The Frenchman is a hard-working player very similar to Makelele who had a serious contribution to the back to back Premier League titles the Blues secured back in 2005 and 2006. He brought pace, accuracy and positive aggressiveness to a team full of talented players. This is exactly what is expected from Kante who is now 25 and has the best years of his career ahead of him. Apparently The Blues paid around £20million which will become £30million with added bonuses. This is one of the best moves Chelsea have made in quite a while. Looking at what the market had to offer and at the current lot, Kante and Michy Batshuayi are the perfect additions to the lot. It will be great to see these guys play together and it will be great to see Costa and the Belgium youngster and Kante in front of Cahill and Terry. Honestly, if Conte switches to a 3 man defense, the current lot is quite complete and no more transfers may be needed.
