Transfer Rumors Flow As Mourinho Is Looking To Upgrade The Defense

Mourinho has expressed his disappointment with the way the team has been performing this season. According to Metro, two or three transfers will sort things out during the winter transfer window, when Chelsea have the chance to address some of their problems. Despite most people saying that the Blues only need to work on their morale and that the quality is still there, Chelsea’s boss will want to make sure his players can recover in peace without endangering the team’s reputation. If the attack looks covered, the defense and the midfield may need work.

Two solutions look quite plausible right now when it comes to strengthening the defense. The first is Sporting’s William Carvalho who was very close to joining Arsenal but was denied a move due to his massive price tag. The 23-year-old who can also play as a central defender is under contract with his current club until 2018 and is very likely to leave after spending his first years as a professional player for Sporting. The second option for Mourinho would be PSG’s Marquinhos. The 21-year-old has improved massively since leaving Roma but unfortunately he is competing for a spot in the starting eleven with Thiago Silva and David Luiz. If a good offer is accepted by Paris, it is very likely to see the Brazilian being paired with Zouma in the near future.
