Torres In Inter Milan’s Sights

According to the Metro, Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been shortlisted as a transfer target by Italian giants Inter Milan for the up coming summer window, after the Spaniard has continually failed to convert his appearances into goals at Stamford Bridge.

Torres has also been linked with a move back to former club Atletico Madrid, where a swap deal was mooted, with Diego Costa rumoured to be on his way to London to make way for Torres. The 30-year old made his move from Atletico to England in 2007 when Liverpool had a bid for the striker accepted. Torres scored 65 goals in 102 appearances for the club, and impressed the world with his tenacity and sharpness in attack. Chelsea were interested in signing the player, and in January 2011, Torres completed a £50 million switch to West London. However, the striker has just managed to score 19 goals in 106 league appearances for the Blues, and never settled at the club.

Inter are looking to strengthen their squad under manager Walter Mazzarri, and will surely want to improve their league performances, after a slump in recent years. Chelsea will most certainly sign a big name striker in the summer, regardless of Torres’ future, as they will look to offload Demba Ba.
