Chelsea are in need of some new players to add some determination and options especially up front. Costa is in decent shape but gets little help from the people who should be providing support. Adding a high level competitor for the number one spot in attack after the weak performances from Falcao could inflict some important changes especially when it comes to mentality. Players like Hazard and Oscar who have little competition despite weak form, might start working harder thus improving their game. It appears that the competition could come from PSG where Edinson Cavani is prepared to start transfer negotiations. His arrival could determine some important changes in the game system not only in the player’s mentality. He has been working well with Ibrahimovic and could do the same with Costa. He can be a true number 9 or a winger when needed which could give Hazard something to think about.

Some may say Cavani is not as necessary as a defender or a defensive midfielder but few think about the fact that his move to Chelsea could not be as costly as expected. There are three moves that could lower the cost of the Uruguayan’s transfer. The first would be to sell Cuadrado to Juventus. Apparently, he is worth £16million which is close to a third of what Cavani will cost. The second move would be to sell Marko Marin to Trabzonspor. The Turks are known for paying big money for players who come from the West. The 26-year-old is valued at about £5m. The last move which is bound to happen this winter is to let Falcao go. His departure could cover Cavani’s financial needs. With that in mind, signing a striker like the Uruguayan for around £30m after all subtractions are made, is definitely a bargain. His desire to be the first pick, his versatility and experience could do a lot of good to a Chelsea side who need a restart.
