Should Mikel Be Sold To Make Way For Loftus-Cheek?

Chelsea were accused of not using their own players to build a strong team. Even though transferring the best players is one way of going about finding success, there was a sense of lost identity especially after giving up Frank Lampard. Despite Terry’s amazing season, it still would have been nice to see more homegrown players help Chelsea find their way to the Premier League title.

Apparently things will change for the future as Chelsea’s amazing younger teams are starting to propose some serious contenders for the big team. One of the players who was already announced as being promoted next season is 19 year old Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The defensive midfielder made his first noticeable appearances against Liverpool and managed to impress with his accuracy and excellent on pitch awareness. According to SkySports, in the 60 minutes spend on the field, Loftus-Cheek had a 100% passing accuracy rate and despite sending most of his passes towards the defense, he still impressed. He did exactly what he was supposed to do and more. In terms of tackling he showed intuitiveness and class which is really something for a 19 year old.

Loftus-Cheek worked hard and despite not playing for anything in particular, he did handle the game in a very professional way. Liverpool were taking things seriously and that showed. The youngster held his own though and convinced the audiences he is worth being bumped up to the big team. Chelsea seem to have found either the perfect partner or replacement for Matic who despite an impeccable work ethic, will eventually need a rest especially with the Blues planning on winning everything next season.
