Schurrle Deal Complete – Finally!

Schurrle Deal Complete – Finally!

So what has seemed like the longest on-again/off-again transfer of all time has finally been completed. As reported this morning on Sky Sports News, the 22 year old German forward, André Schürrle has agreed to move from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea ending one of the most protracted moves in recent memory.

Going the other way as a part of the deal is Belgian international Kevin de Bruyne, who will move to the German club on a year long loan.

Chelsea have been pursuing the German attacker for over a year and have brought him to Stamford Bridge several times to wine and dine him and the club would have much preferred to have concluded this deal months ago but must surely be most relieved to have finally got their man.

This is Chelsea’s first confirmed deal of the summer and according to The Guardian the West London club will pay £20 million for Schürrle’s signature along with the loan of de Bruyne for a season for free.

Seemingly it was de Bruyne who caused a delay at the last minute as he wanted to join Borussia Dortmund but in the end agreed to join Bayer Leverkusen, allowing Chelsea to finally nail down terms of the deal.

So André Schürrle is finally set to wear the blue of Chelsea and he will reportedly sign his contract once he finishes international duty with the German national team in America.
