Romeu Following In Lukaku’s Footsteps

Having 26 players out on loan and keeping them wanting to play for their parent club is very difficult. Most of the footballers who cannot find their spot on the team usually leave sooner or later. Chelsea’s task is particularly complicated considering the large number of loan deals currently related to the Stamford Bridge club. According to Metro, after Lukaku decided it was time to leave following the endless loan spells he had to manage, it is Oriol Romeu’s turn to put pressure on the Londoners. The 23 year old who was offered a new contract this summer, seems very interested in extending his deal with Stuttgart. Germany has become his home away from home. He has adapted very well and he seems to have started rediscovering the joy of being a team regular.

Romeu looks impressed with the way he has been treated by the Germans and hinted that he is not expecting to ever be treated the same at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard has made 22 Premier League appearances in 2 years spent with the Blues. In 2013 he moved to Valencia for a while but did not adapt.

Joining Stuttgart has already proven to be the best shot he has had so far to prove his abilities. Unfortunately, proving those abilities might not be enough to get him a spot in Mourinho’s first eleven. Even with great performances, it is hard to believe Matic, Mikel or Ramires will be left aside. Add to that the fact that Khedira might be coming to London and you get a pretty good idea why Romeu is thinking about moving to Germany for good.
