Swansea’s 6’5’’ striker Fernando Llorente managed the performance of a lifetime and knocked Liverpool further behind Chelsea in the title race. No one expected to see a team struggling to avoid relegation fight so hard for a win and no one expected to see Llorente dominate Liverpool’s defense the way he did. With a formation that can be adapted to send crosses from both short and long range, Chelsea could sure use someone like the Spaniard.

While he may lack speed, he does have the ability to overpower almost any defender in the air. He has the height, the balance and the jumping ability to gain considerable advantage over others and could be perfect on the pitch especially when facing teams which use the aerial attack as one of their main weapons. Guardiola explained in an interview how different the PL is from other competitions as most of the smaller teams tend to depend on crosses and aerial balls rather than on passes along the grass.

Games against Arsenal, City or United don’t usually need someone like Llorente as much since it is not in Chelsea’s nature to defend and depend on corners to win and it is not in the other teams’ nature to park the bus. With smaller teams like Swansea for example, you might use a powerhouse, a player who can jump above all other defenders to win long balls and help get that well-deserved goal.

Llorente had one of the best years of his career under Conte who can clearly get the best out of the 31-year-old Spaniard who scored 18 goals for Juventus back in 2014. If the Italian boss manages to negotiate a deal for Llorente, it might be a great fit to see this Spanish powerhouse at Stamford Bridge even if it is only for the rest of this season. According to Metro, Swansea do not want to lose him but couldn’t refuse a decent offer for a player who is going into his last year of contract. If Batshuayi will stay put, Chelsea’s attack would be pretty much complete with the addition of Llorente who should be very tempted about the idea of winning the Premier League title so late in his career.
