Real Madrid Ready To Sell Morata As Chelsea Lurk

Chelsea have been put on high alert after Real Madrid were reported to be considering the sale of striker Alvaro Morata, Los Blancos want to offload the Spanish international in order to finance a deal to sign Paul Pogba, according to Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague.

The striker was part of the Madrid team until 2014 when he was sold to Juventus. 2 years later, Real activated a buy-back clause in his contract and hope to sell him for over double the amount of the buy-back.

“Morata will return to training with Real Madrid, that is the only fact in this story,” Balague told Sky Sports News HQ.

“Morata has asked Real Madrid for his wages to reflect those he got at Juventus and Real and doubting whether that is the best option. Real are willing to spend around €100m (£85.1m) to bring Pogba to the club but they need to get that money from somewhere, meaning they are open to the possibility of selling Morata.”

“Real have put a €75m price-tag on Morata, which I think is a little bit too much for certain clubs,” Balague added.

“What’s clear, however, is both Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in the player.”

“This is another transfer that will go in the ‘we will have to wait and see’ pile as it depends on many factors. If he has to leave, Morata would like to go to the Premier League.”

Morata is certainly a target of Chelsea’s, and if the Blues decide to offer over £50 million for the striker then would Madrid really have enough bottle to turn it down?
