Oriol Romeu Keen On Leaving Chelsea

Oriol Romeu Keen On Leaving Chelsea

The 22 year old Oriol Romeu seems to be following Courtois’s footsteps. Just like the young Belgian, Romeu is thriving since moving to Spain. The former Barcelona player has been a key element in Valencia’s starting eleven. The Spanish side who just reached the semi-finals of the Europa League also seem keen on turning Romeu’s loan into a permanent transfer.

According to the Daily Star, Romeu is now waiting for Chelsea’s blessing in order to return to his own country for good. The defensive midfielder who only made 22 Premier League appearances since 2011 is entering his last year of contract at the end of the season. The Blues are more than likely to let him leave considering the fact that they only paid £3.5 million when bringing Romeu from Barcelona. His value has slightly increased since then especially during this season while playing for Valencia.

However, it appears none of the involved parties have yet to decide what is going to happen for next season. In his recent statements, Romeu pointed out that even though he is keen on becoming Valencia’s player, Chelsea still have the final word. The Spaniard’s current price is somewhere around £5 million which is not much considering his excellent performances. The 22 year old doesn’t seem to be part of Mourinho’s plans. The Portuguese boss just signed Matic who has a similar profile to that of Romeu.
