The match marked the last group game of the competition, and was of no significance in terms of points and positions to the home side. Jose Mourinho played a relatively youthful side, with players like Kurt Zouma and Mohamed Salah getting the nod to start. The Blues have finished top of the group, and will hence avoid rivals group leaders like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the next round.
