Mourinho’s Mata Masterstroke Vs Spurs – Why Did We Ever Doubt Him?

With rumors of a Mata reunion with AVB or even with his old club Valencia, Jose Mourinho chose the game against Tottenham to unleash the Mata Factor, showing that the Portuguese boss is well aware of what he has with Mata in his ranks and…well what do you know?

After a dismal first half display from the Blues today against Mourinho’s former right hand man and former Chelsea boss himself, Andre Villas-Boas’ Tottenham team, Jose turned to none other than outcast Juan Mata in another Mourinho masterstroke. Knowing of AVB’s close relationship with Mata it is no surprise that Mourinho introduced Mata to try and turn the tide after a rampant Tottenham had totally dominated Chelsea and held a deserved 1-0 lead through Sigurdsson’s great finish of a goal after some great Spurs interplay in the 20th minute. Also Spurs were unlucky not to go in 2-0 up as Paulinho also hit the post just before the half ended.

As soon as the 2nd half started with Mata on for Mikel, the Spanish wizard almost made an instant impact only for his goal to be disallowed for offside. Mata continued to flourish looking like the incisive, highly-skilled technician that he is and naturally he had the last laugh as it was his ecsquisite free kick which was put away with a good header for the equaliser by John Terry making for a rousing Chelsea comeback where they looked most likely to go on to win even after the fiery Torres was red-carded fairly late on.

All in all it was a great Chelsea performance as they improved so much from the 1st half and they are starting to look like they have some pretty awesome team spirit developing which could be the sign of great things on the horizon for the club and its supporters.
