Mourinho Wisely Keeping Mum On Matic Red Card

Given the recent impetuous relationship Jose Mourinho has had with the media it can be no surprise that he has chosen to keep very tight-lipped about the most controversial happening on the field of play involving Chelsea lately – notably the sending off of Nemanja Matic on 70mins with Chelsea comfortably leading 1-0 on the weekend vs Burnley.

The game changed in Sean Dyche’s side’s favour after Matic virtually had his clock-cleaned by a very dangerous high tackle from Burnley forward Ashley Barnes who reacted to a relatively innocent tussle for the ball by clattering into the Serbian’s shin in what could have been a really nasty, potential leg-breaker of a tackle. It clearly had the potential to seriously damage the normally quite composed Matic for him to go off to that extent. He was dismissed after charging Barnes in a fit of rage. He will now miss the next three domestic games, including Wembley this weekend which is a huge blow for the club and the player.

Jose Mourinho said he would be in “big trouble” if he went ahead and talked about the Nemanja Matic ban and given his recent free-speaking on refereeing decisions involving Chelsea and various other club matters and the resulting repercussions it seems like the boss made the right choice as we need him available to do his job without the threat of suspension or banishment to the stands.

Hear what Jose Mourinho had to say about the way Chelsea are being refereed in the interview below…
