Statistics show that Didier Drogba is better than Romelu Lukaku who most considered the perfect choice for Chelsea’s attack after his Everton experience last year. According to Metro, most thought Chelseea were wrong to let go of the Belgian striker who is now trailing when compared to Drogba. Despite being 16 years older than Lukaku, the Ivorian is more efficient and would have probably topped the Blues’ former striker if not for Costa’s amazing form.

Lukaku suffered a massive drop in form despite finally being granted the opportunity to end the loan streaks he dreaded so much while under Chelsea’s management. It seems that Mourinho predicted things correctly despite the endless criticism received from people who condemned the Portuguese boss for not keeping the Belgian striker at Stamford Bridge.

A quick financial analysis shows that selling Lukaku was actually a brilliant move. With the money received from transferring him to Everton, Chelsea bought Remy, paid Drogba’s salary for one season and also covered Costa’s salary for the first 12 months of his contract. The three of them have found the net 32 times this season and will probably win the Premier League trophy for the Blues.

Lukaku looks to have lost some of his drive which most attributed to his desire to become a Chelsea regular. Mourinho was never a big fan of the striker and apparently he knew a drop in form was always close by. Hopefully the Portuguese boss will continue following his gut and will use his intuition to make Chelsea stronger each season and let’s face it we expect nothing less than that from the “Special One”.
