Mourinho Might Be The Reason For Arsenal’s Failure To Sign Khedira

Chelsea might be the reason for which Arsenal have had trouble signing Khedira. According to Metro, Mourinho has spoken with the German international and has suggested he should wait for one more year before leaving Madrid. With his contract set to expire next summer, the World Cup winner will be able to join the Blues for free. The Portuguese boss is the one who first signed Khedira who was a team regular before Mourinho left Spain. Even though Arsenal have come up with an excellent offer for the 27 year old who would have been guaranteed a spot in the starting line-up, the two sides failed to reach an agreement. Apparently, Khedira was the one who did not agree on the terms of his future Emirates deal.

It is up to the midfielder to decide if either he will spend one year playing the substitute role just to work with Mourinho once again or if he will join his fellow compatriots Ozil, Mertesacker and Podolski to fight for the Premier League next to Wenger. It is a tough decision for Khedira who has less than 20 days to decide. Bayern have also been linked to a possible bid which makes things even more interesting. Unfortunately for Arsenal, they have already made a financial offer for Khedira which will be hard to top considering the fact that it included a salary similar to that of Sanchez and Ozil. If it comes down to who offers the most, the Gunners could lose the battle. If it comes down to which team is more appealing than the North Londoners stand a fighting chance due to Ozil who is Khedira’s best friend.
