Mourinho Backed By Club During Winter Transfer Period

Mourinho is still supported by the club’s management, which despite Chelsea’s poor form, are still willing to invest in the squad. With the Winter transfer period already being charted out by many experts, it seems that Chelsea are expected to bring in at least two new players. The first is PSG’s Marquinhos who at age 21, is one of the most promising defenders the Blues could invest in. Unfortunately for him he is competing with David Luiz and Thiago Silva for a spot in the starting eleven which is currently dominated by his two compatriots. The youngster has been on Mourinho’s radar for a while now, and given the problems at the club he might be offered a contract at Stamford Bridge.

The second transfer Chelsea are eager to make is that of John Stones. According to the Daily Express, the club is ready to up the ante and meet Everton’s expectations. The 21-year-old England international who is under contract until 2019, was offered a tempting deal this summer and was expected to join the Blues for this season. There were however, some financial details which were not agreed upon and the center-back continued with Everton. With Chelsea’s defense stretched Mourinho is determined to make another bid which will not be turned down this time. It remains to be seen if money will solve the team’s problems. Some fit younger players certainly could help especially if they are eager to play and prove themselves at the highest level possible.
