Mikel Speaks Out On Mourinho Departure

Parting ways with Mourinho has had an impact on the team and although not entirely positive, it did bring some changes to the way the team performs. The performance against Manchester United was a decent one and what is most important right now, it was decent after half-time. That means that Hiddink managed to motivate his player to some extent and managed to bring some determination to the table, a feature that was absent in the beginning of the season. Even with some rumors that a group of players will be sacked doing the rounds, you can still see some progress in the Blues’ game. That is the result of a change in atmosphere at Stamford Bridge, change brought in by Hiddink.

John Obi Mikel is the first to speak out regarding the changes that came with Mourinho’s departure. According to Sky Sports, the midfielder who was expected to leave under the Special One’s management, is quite happy right now with how things are going. He is entitled to be like that as he has been given time on pitch by Hiddink who used Mikel instead of Ramires or Fabregas.

The atmosphere will only improve from here apparently as Hiddink is planning an important move that will surely be useful on so many levels. The Dutchman announced that he is planning on bringing Didier Drogba to Chelsea. Even though it might not happen right away as Drogba is still under contract with Montreal, it is something Hiddink is keen on. “Those rare kind of ex-players with this big status really would be very good for any club to have, especially him because he’s a Chelsea legend,” Hiddink said. “But he has a contract with Montreal at the moment, and we have to respect that also.” Maybe the Ivorian is one of the reasons Chelsea suffered so much this year. Having him around last season may have had a bigger impact than anyone expected.
