Arda Turan is reported to prefer a move to Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford. The news comes via The Independent who claim that Turan wants to move to the English champions rather than Manchester United, despite being offered a huge contract to join The Red Devils.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder, who’s agent has revealed he will leave the club this summer, has attracted interest from Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Barcelona had been favourites to land the 28-year-old, but their transfer embargo has made it a difficult decision for Turan, who would be unable to join the Catalan club for 6 months. Also, Barca are reportedly stalling all transfer activity until after their presidential election this month.

Manchester United are also said to be keen on the Turk, and were recently reported as having a deal in place with the midfielder. These claims were quashed by Turan himself though, after the player took to Twitter to rubbish the reports.

“Some media outlets, reports are not correct for what I’ve done in celebration of the transfer. I’m on vacation and just resting,” he tweeted on his personal account.

It’s more than likely that Turan will leave Atletico this summer, and it’ll be interesting to see where Arda turns out playing, a player of his quality would fit into any side. Up to now, Chelsea are said to be Turan’s favoured destination, with Barcelona’s embargo issues being a huge stumbling block. However, United could still be in with a chance of signing the midfielder, who can play almost anywhere in the middle of the park.

Time will tell, but Arda Turan is a player well worth the £25m quoted for the Turkish international.
