Latest Chelsea Transfer Rumour Update

Things have been pretty calm at Stamford Bridge this summer even though Chelsea made two big transfers. The squad has been kept intact for most of the transfer window mostly due to Conte’s desire to make up his mind on his own regarding all the players who are under contract with the Blues. He had a lot to analyze and needed time to decide who will stay and who will go. Now that the summer is almost over and there are a couple of weeks left for teams across Europe to sign and sell, here’s an update regarding possible departures, arrivals and loans.

The first rumor that needs to be discussed is that of Kalidou Koulibaly. Apparently Napoli refused a massive bid from Chelsea and are determined to keep the center-back regardless of the offer. Who could blame them though after getting the money they got for Higuain? It`s unlikely to see Koulibaly at Stamford Bridge in the next two weeks despite their need for a new defender.

One other rumor which may have gained strength after he was left out in the season opener vs West Ham is that regarding Cesc Fabregas. According to reports, the Spaniard could be the one leaving for Juventus even though Oscar was the first linked to the Italian side. Apparently the Serie A champions are looking to replace Pogba and are willing to pay big money to sign a creative midfielder to play next to Miralem Pjanic.

Letting Fabregas leave could trigger two very late bids for Joao Mario and Blaise Matuidi. These moves are a bit farfetched and even though they might improve Chelsea’s game, they are unlikely to happen. Matuidi is fine with PSG and is already 29 and Joao Mario is more of a right-sided player.

Pedro was also linked to a departure but he seems to be content playing for Conte in West London although he only came on for the last 10 minutes replacing Willian against West Ham which likely irked him.

Juan Cuadrado on the other hand seems to feel just fine at Stamford Bridge. He will stay in London for the next couple of months and try to prove he is worth a spot in the starting eleven. It`s good news for the fans who wanted the Colombian back after seeing how well he plays for Juventus.

Bertrand Traore’s transfer needs to be mentioned as well. He will be joining Ajax for the whole 2016-2017 season despite a set of decent pre-season performances. Patrick Bamford is also on his way to another loan but his destination is unknown. He is likely to stay in the UK though.

Aside from the above mentioned, the Telegraph also provides updates on rumors regarding three other players. Chelsea clearly need another striker especially if Remy leaves but none of these players look likely to join the Blues. Lukaku is way too expensive according to Everton’s valuation, Simone Zaza is on his way to the Bundesliga and Gabriel Barbosa is more of a right winger and would have no place at Stamford Bridge right now.
