Lampard Will Not Celebrate At Chelsea

Frank Lampard makes a return to Stamford Bridge on today, but his father has suggested the player and himself are still season ticket holders and that the midfielder will not celebrate if he scores against Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Chelsea began the season with consistent performances while other teams dropped points at crucial points, and the London based club are 5 points clear of Manchester City ahead of a crunch tie in the Barclays Premier League. City will be without key midfielder Yaya Toure who is representing Ivory Coast in the African Nations Cup. Diego Costa was involved in controversy once again as the star striker was guilty of violent conduct in Chelsea’s Carling Cup tie against Liverpool. The Spaniard was given a three-match ban and will hence miss the vital fixture in Chelsea’s title race.

Lampard began his career with West Ham United as a youth player in 1994 and joined the senior squad soon after. In 2001, Chelsea bought the former England international who cemented his place in Jose Mourinho’s first spell at the club. After playing 429 matches for the club, Lampard decided to end his spell at the club and agreed to play for newly formed New York Football Club. City decided to sign Lampard on a short term deal and have extended the midfielder’s stay till the end of the season. His contract with City has been subject of controversy, but Lampard has been very influential for the citizens.
