Jose: Transfer Window Is Over!

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that the transfer window is closed as far as he is concerned.

Whilst there’s no indication that the Blues are finished in the transfer market, Mourinho has admitted that he’s more focused on the upcoming games at the start of the new season, rather than the business side.

Chelsea have already signed Falcao and Begovic this summer, and have seen 2 bids rejected from Everton for John Stones. But Mourinho says he is just focusing on the league opener against Swansea, and doesn’t like adding players to his squad after the season begins.

Talking on talkSPORT, Mourinho had this to say when asked about the pursuit of Stones:

“I repeat the same thing every season. For me, the transfer window is over. I don’t like the transfer window when competition starts.”

“I know it is open and my club is able to buy or sell, but I don’t like that feeling. As a football coach I am now thinking about my players, about my squad and I don’t want to think about the transfer window.”

“What happens happens, but I’m not going to lose one minute of my time thinking about the transfer window and I’ll try to get the best out of my players.”

“These are the rules and I have to adapt but I don’t think about it.”

“It means a lot [to be champions] and I want players to feel it in a positive way. We’ve seen a big reaction from teams that didn’t win title. ”

“Chelsea had a reaction when we weren’t champions. In a week in June we bought (Cesc) Fabregas and Diego (Costa). This summer, title opponents have been very very strong, they are much stronger.”

“It is a big challenge for us with the same team to try to be better. It will be difficult but we have to try.”

Will Jose stick to his word?

The Blues are in the market for a left back, and they surely won’t give up on Stones that easily?
