Has Conte Found The Perfect Fit For Chelsea’s Attack?

It`s been a while since Chelsea had the luxury of keeping a star quality striker on the bench. Except for Costa who despite his current lack of form, is one of the best attackers in the world, the Blues have struggled to keep up with teams like City, United, Tottenham or Liverpool last season who always had the attacking line covered. Actually a small correction could be made: it`s been a while since Chelsea had in form world-class players to fight for a spot in the starting eleven. Things might be changing for the best as rumors have it that Conte is keen on signing Belgium wonder kid Michy Batshuayi. The 22-year-old Marseille striker who is under contract with the French side until 2020 will be impossible to keep this summer as stated by the club’s management. With 23 goals and 10 assists this season, Batshuayi will probably have the same story as Martial. He has the skill, the physique, the efficiency and the ability to adapt to any type of gameplay. It`s a known fact that Belgian players fit very well in the Premier League and that there’s no better place for them to shine.

Aside from the fact that Batshuayi is an amazing striker, there’s also the fact that Costa might be looking to leave. With Falcao already out, Remy keen to leave for Turkey and Traore pushing for insurance he will be part of the starting eleven, that leaves Chelsea in a pretty tight spot. All that can be resolved, or at least part of that can be resolved by signing this 22-year-old. He is promising, he is talented, he is in form and he is just the right age to still grow guided by Chelsea’s set of values and beliefs. Even if Diego Costa does decide to stay and play under Conte’s supervision, Batshuayi would still represent a boost for Chelsea’s attack. He can provide solid competition to the Spaniard who has been lacking that since joining the Blues. As with all European players, no deal will be made anytime soon. Fans will have to wait until the end of July to see what happens especially with Belgium being one of the favorites to reach the final stages of Euro 2016. Currently Batshuayi is expected to cost around £20million but that can all change after a few good games. The good news is that, according to the Mirror, Batshuayi has already rejected West Ham’s offer despite his desire to join the Premier League. That means he is waiting for an offer from a bigger club which could turn out to be Chelsea.
