Frank Lampard Steps Down From England’s National Team

Frank Lampard will no longer honor invitations to represent England in any competition. The former Chelsea man who is now playing for Manchester City, has followed in the footsteps of his fellow compatriot Steven Gerrard who also announced his retirement a few weeks back. According to the Daily Mail, Lampard has ended his international career with the regret that he did not manage to win a single trophy. Even so, he admitted that it is now time to focus on his family and his duties towards his current club.

The 36 year old who spent 13 years at Stamford Bridge, time in which he made his way to being the top scorer in Chelsea’s history, is now on loan with Manchester City where he will probably make his last Premier League appearance sometime during the winter. It was an unexpected move on Lampard’s behalf who was truly dedicated to the Blues. Unfortunately, the new Chelsea club policy came with serious changes which did not allow him to continue playing on Stamford Bridge.

Even though Lampard is still going to play football for the next 2 years for New York City and on loan with Manchester City for the initial 6 months of the contract, you have to think that he would have liked to have gone out as a Blue.
