Football Player Sent To Prison After Impersonating Chelsea’s Gael Kakuta

Chelsea’s Gael Kakuta is all over the news after a player who stole his identity was sentenced to jail for 4 years. According to Metro, 25 year old Medi Abalimba has admitted to committing several felonies while posing as Kakuta. Apparently the former Derby man went on a spending spree while using stolen credit cards and telling everyone he is Chelsea’s player. Abalimba not only went shopping while using a different identity but also rented a helicopter and spent nights in some of the most expensive hotels in the UK. The police caught up to him before he could do serious damage to Kakuta’s reputation.

Unfortunately for Chelsea’s player, this is the most attention he has received since moving to Stamford Bridge. Since 2009 when he was promoted to the Blues’ first team he has failed to impress in any way. Once seen as the most promising youngster in Chelsea’s squad, the 23 year old has remained unnoticed due to his poor form. The winger who is now playing with Rayo Vallecano has not commented on the awkward event which took place sometime in June.

Kakuta has had a relatively good start this season and may benefit in a way from the attention he is currently being given. Despite being part of an unpleasant situation, he might get something good out of this after all. His reputation remains untarnished which is great considering the trouble he could have had to deal with if Abalimba would have continued to spend money and pretend he was Chelsea’s player.
