FFP Regulations Block Chelsea’s Winter Transfers

This is indeed Chelsea’s worst early season in years. After all the bad luck, injuries, run of bad results and more, FIFA is now putting pressure on the Blues. According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho’s side registered a £23m loss over the last financial year which basically blocks any transfer unless it`s going to be for free. Apparently this important change is the result of increasing salaries and losing profit which includes the money coming from selling players. Chelsea have made a habit out of signing all sorts of players for big money without recovering their investment in case the player fails to adapt. Sure, they sold De Bruyne and Schurrle but that did not even the balance.

Despite all that, Bruce Buck insists everything is as expected and that things will even out soon. His positive attitude is backed up by Chelsea’s new contract with Yokohama and other sponsorship deals that are expected to even things out. Even with all the money coming from commercial deals, it will be close to impossible to sign a player like Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann for example who would set Chelsea back £31.5million. Salary wise he would not be a problem if Falcao does leave as rumored.

Buck’s confidence is welcomed right now as things are tough at Stamford Bridge. He does know what he’s talking about and assures Chelsea fans that everything will be fine. He went on to say, ‘To record the second highest turnover figure in the club’s history despite the Champions League campaign ending at the earliest knockout round demonstrates our business is robust, and is testament to good work regarding our commercial activities, our growing fan-base around the world and the tremendous support the team received at home and away matches in 2014/15. ‘Our program of partnering with world-renowned and innovative market-leaders is accelerating and the beneficial impact made by the Chelsea Foundation in more than 30 countries continues to set the top standard.

‘We thank our fans for another season of sell-out attendances at Stamford Bridge in 2014/15 and for our support everywhere. We hope they enjoyed what was a very successful year.’ Hopefully these words will reach the players who do not need to worry about losing points outside of the pitch as well. After Chelsea’s 4-0 hammering of Maccabi Tel-Aviv last night and the 1-0 win over Norwich City it certainly looks like the Blues are on the way up and long may it continue.
