Fabregas Part Of Elite Midfielders – Neville

Cesc Fabregas has elevated himself to another level this season following his arrival at Chelsea in a £30 million deal from Barcelona. He is one of the main reasons why Chelsea sit atop the Premier League table and, even so early in the season, the Blues are favourites to win the title.

Against Aston Villa when the Blues cruised to a 3-0 home win, Fabregas made a total of 144 passes which is the most in the Premier League since Paul Scholes’ 148 in 2012 for Manchester United against Tottenham Hotspurs.

Neville believes such high numbers is a mark of an elite player, according to the Telegraph. There are very few players who have made more than 120 passes in a 90 minute game since the turn of the decade. To be specific, only 12 players have done that since Jan 1, 2010 as per the report.

Fabregas is now in a class of Pirlo, Scholes, Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta among others. Do you think Fabregas is one of the best midfielders in the world?
