The 21-year-old Romelu Lukaku spent last season on loan at Goodison Park from Chelsea and scored 16 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside club. It is understood that Blues boss Jose Mourinho doesn’t fancy Lukaku and will be prepared to let the Belgian leave Stamford Bridge if the right offer comes in.

Roberto Martinez has been very vocal about his desire to bring Lukaku to Everton on a permanent basis and is confident he will land his top target this summer. He was asked by the club’s fans in Thailand whether Lukaku will be an Evertonian next season and according to the Daily Mail, Martinez replied, “Of course we’ll get him.”

The striker is also being targeted by Wolfsburg but Everton remain optimistic that a deal can be done. Everton’s head of recruitment Ian Atkins said, “Hopefully things can be sorted out, I think he’s quite settled in his mind that he wants to come to Everton, and hopefully he’ll be pulling on our blue shirt again next term.”
