Early Transfer Business Might Help Chelsea

Although the summer transfer window is still three months away as it officially opens on July 1, however, so many rumours are beginning to fly around. Chelsea have also been linked with the signing of many players in different positions and in an attempt to stabilize the squad and to avoid a season like the current one, they might want to ensure all transfer business or at least the bulk of it is completed before the start of the European Championships.

With the European Championship coming up in June, Chelsea stands the risk of having long negotiations with their key targets if moves are not made swiftly. For instance, Radja Nainggolan who has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer could all of a sudden become the subject of interest from many clubs should he do well at the European Championship in France. And should this happen, Chelsea stand a great risk of losing out on his signing which will be bad news.

With Chelsea not in the Champions League next season, it could be a tad difficult to convince players to move to Stamford Bridge and it will become much more difficult if various other clubs are interested in the same player as Chelsea. This is why it is key for the club to start doing all their transfer dealings now and not wait till the window officially opens in July.

Also, a good pre-season might go a long way in the Blues doing well next season or not doing well. By ensuring all the transfer business is done on time, incoming players will be able to have a full pre-season with their new team mates. We have seen what the lack of pre-season can do to a player with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez looking very different this campaign from the player that took the league by storm last season.
