Drogba To Turn Down Chelsea

Drogba To Turn Down Chelsea

After losing Alvaro Negredo for probably the next 6 months, Man City look to be turning to ex-Chelsea man Didier Drogba. Pellegrini’s interest in the striker might come between him and a possible return to Stamford Bridge. Mourinho seems keen on repeating the Eto’o experiment which was somewhat successful. According to the Daily Star, Pellegrini might be willing to outbid the Blues who are not that desperate to sign the 36 year old. Chelsea currently have Costa, Torres and Lukaku to perform in front of goal. Schurrle is also an option just in case Lukaku leaves London on another loan deal.

On the other hand, Chelsea might be looking to offer Drogba more than a spot in their extended squad. Apparently, the Ivorian has a coaching job waiting for him at Stamford Bridge. His role is probably going to involve some scouting and probably some training with the youth team.

Drogba is also expected to teach Costa or Lukaku a thing or two about what it means to be a Chelsea striker. In his 226 Premier League appearances, Drogba scored 100 goals which makes him the 4th most efficient goal scorer in the club’s history. He was part of Chelsea’s most successful team in the past two decades and he was declared by fans as the most popular striker to ever play for the Blues.
