Diego Costa Backed By Cahill After Harsh Suspension And Boosted By Remy’s Goal

Chelsea had received some bad news regarding Diego Costa who was suspended for the Man City game due to his behavior during the game against Liverpool. Despite not being sent off, the Spaniard is expected to miss at least two weeks-worth of games which saw him in the stands during the clash against Manchester City. According to TalkSport, all of the striker’s teammates back him up and believe he does not deserve to be suspended for 9 games as requested by Liverpool officials. Guilty or not, Costa seems to have integrated himself perfectly at Stamford Bridge. Not only he is the top scorer in London but he is also a team player who has gained respect and appreciation. The 26 year old who exploded this season got public praise from Cahill who admitted to be a fan of the way Costa handles himself on the pitch. He is physical and he pushes opponents to the limit in order to help his team. If he would have been a defender he would not have received so many negative comments from both supporters and officials.

Costa will probably get a minimum penalty of three games and will return after the dispute against Aston Villa. Even with him taken out of the equation, Drogba and Remy should be more than up to the task of replacing the striker across all the games but it is hard to say that we did miss him in a big way yesterday. Hopefully Costa’s suspension will only give him time to rest and come back stronger and more efficient but again there is no getting away from the fact that his absence over the next games could cost us dearly. Despite his absence, Loic Remy’s stepped up with an excellent performance capped with a well-taken goal and in the end it was a very good point for the Blues vs a resurgent Man City side and keeps Mou’s men looking good still with a 5 point lead which would have the objective yesterday – not to lose and go to only a 2 point lead plus Drogba showed enough of his old self in the last 10 mins that he will contribute when we need him to just cos he is a legend.
