Courtois’s Future In The Hands Of Jose Mourinho

Thibaut Courtois received some unpleasant news from Belgian national team coach, Marc Wilmots who insisted he will not play the 22 year old unless he becomes a team regular for Chelsea. Unfortunately, despite coming back to London after being assured he will be Mourinho’s first choice, things have yet to settle down. The Portuguese boss did not make up his mind and will announce who will be the Blues’ number 1 a few days before the Premier League begins. Up until now all keepers have been given time on the pitch. Even Schwarzer played for 45 minutes which is clearly a sign that The Special One has not decided yet.

The Belgian keeper who returned only after making sure he will be a team regular, will be disappointed if things do not turn out as planned. He left Atletico where he was undeniably Simeone’s first choice and returned to London to take Cech’s place. If he fails to convince Mourinho he is the right way to go, there is a chance that Courtois will miss an entire season. Wilmots will probably chose Mignolet who is certain of his spot in Liverpool’s starting line-up. According to Metro, all will be clear just before the Premier League begins. Chelsea are set to face Burnley on Monday when Mourinho will have to make one of the most important decisions of the season. The fact that he has not made up his mind might also suggest that Cech might leave when he finds out who will be Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper.
