Courtois Bounces Back In Style

Thibaut Courtois proved amazing mental strength and maturity by exuding confidence against QPR. The Belgian international was the man of the match and kept the Blues 7 points away from Arsenal by sealing the goal. Many would have expected to see at least a glimpse of insecurity in the youngster’s game who was put to shame by Charlie Adam’s once in a lifetime goal from last week. Courtois proved them wrong and made Mourinho’s decision regarding Cech’s future a lot easier.

Despite the huge difference in experience, the two keepers are more evenly matched than anyone expected. The 22 year old stopper who is shining in his first year as the manager’s number one pick convinced everyone after the performance against QPR that replacing Cech was not related to anything else other than pure talent. With that in mind, it seems like rumors regarding Chelsea’s former number one goalkeeper’s departure may no longer be rumors.

Cech, despite his 11 years spent at Stamford Bridge will leave this summer in order to become number one again. According to Sky Sports, Arsenal and Inter are in pole position to sign the 32 year old who will have to make a tough decision this summer. After almost a decade dominating the goal for Chelsea, the Czech international has a new start to look forward to. Inter would look like the obvious choice as they are not a direct rival of Chelsea’s and given Mourinho’s recent reluctance to sell to Premier League rivals Cech may well be saying “arrivederci” very soon.
