Could These Players Be Chelsea’s Next Two Acquisitions?

There was a lot going on this summer at Stamford Bridge where Conte secured the services of no less than 5 players whose values put together add up to an even £120million. The Italian boss wanted to make sure he brought in reinforcements and back-ups for the key positions that could pose a problem for the Blues during the ongoing season. Despite a below par season (missing out on the Champions League, losing Mourinho and performing badly – it may not have been easy to convince players to join but being under Conte’s management likely helped), Chelsea did very well in the transfer market. Players like Kante and Batshuayi were always going be hard to get so managing to sign them under the current conditions really took some skill. Fortunately, they did say yes to a transfer and agreed to move to London. It’s hard to think of any other two players who would be a better fit for the Blues’ current lot. Then there are David Luiz and Marcos Alonso. Just as with the other two, these guys make sense. Luiz knows his way around Stamford Bridge and Alonso is simply one of those full-backs who go under the radar so few think to try and transfer. Last but not least there’s Eduardo who will play a very important role on a psychological level. Apparently he is quite good at keeping things positive and at motivating his teammates. Even with the transfers made up until now there’s still room for improvement. Apparently, Chelsea are scouting two transfer options one of which could join Conte’s squad right away.

According to Metro, the first option is Martin Caceres. Currently out due to a very nasty injury, the Uruguay international who was once one of the most promising defenders out there is set to return at the beginning of October. He is unattached right now after going down the same path as Victor Valdes went. He wanted to leave his club and right before making a move, he picked up an injury. While it is true he is dealing with one of the worst injuries in football (Achilles’ tendon rupture), Caceres is a rare kind of defender who combines strength, speed and pitch awareness without too much effort. Because of that he would be worth signing. If Chelsea has around 40 players on loan why not sigh Caceres just in case something bad happens? Given the fact that Caceres is now free of contract, he could move to Stamford Bridge in a matter of days. There are concerns regarding his physical state though given the fact that he spent a lot of time without proper training.

The second option is PSG’s Blaise Matuidi who admitted to being very disappointed after missing out on a change in scenery. Apparently Chelsea have to battle United for this amazing player who is very similar to Schneiderlin in terms of player profile. He is still attached to PSG until 2018 but the French might not mind selling if the right offer is made in the winter window.
