Could Diego Costa Be Next Didier Drogba?

Could Diego Costa Be Next Didier Drogba?

With the Ivorian Leaving for MLS, Diego Costa is left to take on the leading role up front. The 26 year old who proved more than efficient during his first season at Stamford Bridge, has the full support of his teammates who see him as the perfect striker to replace Drogba who was probably the last star striker Chelsea have had in over a decade.

According to TeamTalk, Cahill is confident Costa will deliver and that he will improve with each season. He already managed an impressive 21 goals despite being out injured for a long time. Unfortunately this is the Spaniard’s biggest issue. If he manages to overcome that he will definitely challenge Drogba and his 164 goals scored for the Blues. The Ivorian played 381 games for Chelsea and also added 88 assists to his performance sheet. Hopefully Costa will beat the 37 year old who finished his career at Stamford Bridge with a goal average few strikers would manage considering what adversaries the Londoners have every season.

Even though Costa does not have the same personality as Drogba and is not yet showing leadership skills, he is an amazing striker. Chelsea already have Terry and probably Hazard as leaders so the Spaniard’s role is strictly related to the squad’s scoring rate. He looks more than qualified to become a top scorer and help the Blues dominate European football for at least 4 or 5 years as long as he stays away from injury.
