Costa Reveals Chelsea Ambitions – Ready To Compete With Torres

The Blues were able to officially announce the signing of the Spain striker only on Tuesday of this week with Costa set to feature for his new club in their pre-season preparations in Austria. With Samuel Eto’o having left and Demba Ba almost loaned to Besiktas, Costa will rival Fernando Torres to be the number one striker at the club next season.

The £32 million signing is expected to be given the nod ahead of Torres next season after scoring 36 goals in all competitions last season and helping Atletico to a remarkable league title.

He is relishing the prospect of fighting with Torres to be the main striker at the Bridge next season. According to the Express, he said, “It’s always good to have competition. The important thing for a big club is having great players. Torres is a great player, I know I will have to fight hard to be among the team but I like that. So it will be a clean and healthy competition.”

“I am hopeful for what is happening in my life and I will adapt well. I have wanted to play in the Premier League for a long time and it will be a very good and fast adaptation. I do not think there will be many changes to the style of play. Chelsea are a great team and the Premier League is good to play in.”

So our new man Diego sounds like he is ready for the challenge of playing in the Premier League and indeed can’t wait for it, so I think we can expect much better results from this new striker who used to play for Atletico Madrid than our current striker who used to play for Atletico Madrid – a certain Fernando Torres.
