Conte To Receive Additional Transfer Budget After Great Start

Chelsea have been playing so well lately that the club has reportedly decided to upgrade Conte’s transfer budget for the upcoming transfer window. The club’s board and owner are known for being more than kind to most of their managers and Conte seems to have found favour with the way he has transformed the Blues so far. The new 3-4-3 formation gets better with every game and keeps fans entertained aside from helping the club gather important points. The Londoners are now 2nd in the Premier League and a transfer or two could take them to the top during the 2nd part of the season and most importantly, keep them there. That is now the biggest concern for Chelsea who have a solid squad but at the same time have a bench that needs at least one more important player.

Three targets have emerged as possible future additions for the club. The first and the most important is without a doubt Romelu Lukaku. Everton’s season is showing promise but looks short of delivering Champions League qualification which is a big attraction for players like Lukaku. That would be the main reason the Belgium international could return to Stamford Bridge where he will be welcomed given the fact that seemingly Mourinho was the only one who wanted the striker gone. Lukaku’s current manager has said as reported by Metro:

“‘Romelu will not have made the most of his career if he plays for Everton for the remainder of his career. He has the potential to play for a bigger club than Everton…”

Chelsea will surely have the budget for the 23-year-old but it remains to be seen what will happen. Best case scenario, if Everton figure out their goals for this season, Lukaku moves to Stamford Bridge in June. Worst case scenario, he leaves for PSG who are among the few who can afford him.

The other two players linked to Chelsea right now come from Serie A. The first one is Stefan de Vrij from Lazio and the 2nd one is Fiorentina’s Milan Badelj. Even though Badelj is a defensive midfielder, he might represent an interesting alternative for the center of the defense. He is versatile so if he gets signed he could cover two positions. He is under contract until 2018 so he could move to London as soon as this January. De Vrij is very similar to Cahill so he would need to accept his status as a backup. It might not be a problem as his injuries will keep him away from the pitch for a while. He could benefit off of playing second fiddle to Conte’s current center-backs until he is 100% fit. He is just 24 so he has time to grow and to recover if given the proper environment. All three of these guys would be of help to Conte as substitutes as they have experience and are still young enough to develop into world-class players.
