Cole Future Away From Chelsea?

According to the Guardian, Ashley Cole’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain as he fears not being picked by Jose Mourinho for the up and coming UEFA Champions League semi final against Atletico Madrid and needs opportunities to impress England boss Roy Hodgson.

This year’s Barclays Premier League title race is going down to the wire, and with three potential champions, it could be the most exciting race since the inception of the Barclays Premier League. Liverpool stand in pole position, while Chelsea may have lost their chance by losing to relegation battling Sunderland at Stamford Bridge and Man City look to have lost their momentum. Jose Mourinho’s men have very little time to cover up for the loss but if they beat Liverpool next weekend it will certainly assist them but they will still need other clubs to help them so lifting the title seems unlikely at this time. In that case, the Champions League will be very important for the Blues in order to win a trophy this year.

Cole has been at the club for nearly a decade, and has represented England over 100 times. The former Arsenal left back may find it difficult to win a place in the World Cup squad, and will find that even tougher if Mourinho continues to stick the player on the bench. Cole’s contract runs out in June this year, and it could spell the end for his stint in west London as he surely will not take another season spent on the sidelines.
