Chelsea’s Great Win Due To Players Playing To Impress The Incoming Manager?

A miracle happened. Hazard scored his first two Premier League goals of the season vs Eddie Howe’s impressive Bournemouth outfit. It’s not something anyone expected to say last year when the Belgium international was Chelsea’s best player. It`s like the winger came back from a year-long injury against Bournemouth, at least that is what the feeling was after seeing him score twice. Even though Fabregas was the man of the match with 3 assists and Willian and Pedro scored some great goals, it was still Hazard’s game. Apparently, according to the BBC, it`s no coincidence this happened as Hiddink stated he has been working with Hazard in particular for the past couple of days: “We’re very pleased with the performance, especially in the second half. “It was a very open, entertaining game. Bournemouth have a very good build-up and create good chances. “It was good discipline and good to see some players who have been absent recently, scoring goals. “We worked with Eden Hazard for the last 10 days, his movement was good and we talked about playing him for 45 minutes or perhaps more, but in the end he was enjoying it and he came through the whole game.”

The question is though: was Hazard and Chelsea’s overall performance the result of Conte’s impending arrival? If so surely we should have been seeing these kind of performances ever since the new manager was announced. Should we expect to see the Blues get back to the form that helped them win the previous season? It would be interesting to see what happens until the end of the season. There’s still a glimpse of hope when it comes to getting in the Europa League as Hiddink’s side still have to face Liverpool and Southampton will face City. With 4 games left out of this season, maybe the news of a new manager coming so soon will continue to have a positive impact on the team. It sure did on Hazard who is looking for a fresh start just like many others. If the team keeps it up and if they manage such strong performances against Liverpool and with a bit of luck, this season might not be a total bust. Chelsea now wait for Tottenham who will definitely risk it all to win. Hiddink is confident the Blues could finish the season with straight wins regardless of who their adversaries are. Let’s hope he’s right and they could yet play a big part in where the title goes as they still have that aforementioned fixture against Tottenhmam.
