Chelsea’s Future Looking Bright

Chelsea’s squad seems to be set for the next decade or so. Not only do the Blues have the most players in Europe sent on loan but they also have impressive talent right in their back yard. The latest name to make the headlines is 17 year old Dominic Solanke. According to the Daily Mail, the striker who has been with the club since 2004, impressed Mourinho who sent the youngster on the pitch during a Champions League clash. The Portuguese boss’s future plans become clearer every day. As repeatedly implied, the club is looking to dominate European football over the next few years. The Londoners not only sign the most talented footballers out there but they also invest in in-house names such as Solanke. Being given the opportunity to perform even against a small team like Maribor is huge for someone who has yet to turn 18. Going up through the ranks will surely attract attention which if not managed well, could take a toll on the youngster’s career.

Hopefully Chelsea will know how to keep Solanke close and will avoid similar situations to that of Lukaku who left Stamford Bridge to get more chances to play. Currently the 17 year old is looking quite promising and might even continue making first team appearances throughout the season. Solanke, who is best played as a center forward, is under contract with Chelsea until 2017. The England born Nigerian will probably be given a new deal as soon as he turns 18 as long as his career continues to improve in the same way.
