Chelsea Transfer Round-Up

Chelsea Transfer Round-Up

The Blues are going well in the transfer market considering they have managed to sign two very impressive players this summer. Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kanté will definitely bring a big plus to the way the team looks and given the money that was spent on them, fans could expect a few other star-quality players to be brought in. Conte is not playing around and it appears that neither are the Blues’ power brokers. The Italian boss was given full control over the way the team will look which means a lot of changes may still occur. Looking at the way the lot looks though, we can try to figure out what Conte’s next move could be. Currently the biggest problem for him will be to cover the defense as Zouma is still out for a couple more months. The midfield and the attack look well-built and don’t seem to need new additions. With that in mind here are some rumors which will probably remain only rumors.

Romelu Lukaku from Everton to Chelsea – many say the Belgian has a lot to prove and that his desire to perform for a top club and compete in the Champions League could determine the Belgium international to return to Stamford Bridge. Even though he is just 23-years-old, Lukaku has spent a lot of time gaining experience and is now looking to take things to the next level and he is more likely to get into the Champions League with Chelsea than Everton. The thing is that Conte is very unlikely to pay £40million+ for a striker when he already has two amazing attackers ready to make history together.

Stefan de Vrij from Lazio to Chelsea – The truth is Chelsea do need another defender. Cahill, Terry, Miazga and Djilobodji do not look like enough now. According to Metro, Lazio’s financial situation might allow the Blues to get the Dutch center-back signed relatively quickly as the Italian side are not in a position to turn down concrete offers for some of their players as they need cash. The Dutchman is 24 but unfortunately he spent the last 10 months on the sidelines due to knee injury. He seems to have recovered well though so he might represent a solid solution for adding depth and options to the defense.

Riyad Mahrez from Leicester to Chelsea – The Algerian winger was a joy to watch last season and there are rumors of him getting ready for a move to Chelsea. After Kante decided to move to Stamford Bridge, Mahrez was linked to the Blues as well. The thing is that Conte has the flanks more than covered. The Italian boss decided to keep Cuadrado around meaning that he has the Colombian on the right fighting for a spot in the starting eleven with Willian. Then you have Hazard and Pedro so there is seemingly no point in signing Leicester’s winger as well.

It will be interesting to see how Antonio Conte conducts the rest of his summer transfer business ahead of what promises to be a very exciting Premier League season.
