Chelsea To Send A Second Player On Loan

Chelsea will continue being the team with the most players sent out on loan next season as Danish international Andreas Christensen heads to Monchengladbach for a one year deal. The 19 year old center back does not seem prepared to stand up to the pressure of the Premier League despite being seen as one of the most promising defenders signed by the Blues. With one year left on his contract with Chelsea, this loan deal is probably his last chance to prove to Mourinho that he is worth keeping. According to the Mirror, Christensen who only made two appearances for the club this season is appreciated by the Special One who is rumored to have started negotiations with the Dane.

There are two main reasons for which the defender will be sent on loan but it is hard to tell which the right one is. First there is the possibility of sending him on loan in order to give him a chance to play and show off his skills. Mourinho insisted that he has been monitoring all the players who are on loan but that might be a bit difficult to believe. There is also the fact that no player sent on loan actually returned to Stamford Bridge to become a first team pick during the last couple of seasons. The second scenario could point to a totally different situation in which Chelsea agree to let Christensen join Monchengladbach in their attempt to extend the player’s contract by offering him more time to play. It is likely he requested more time on the pitch and that the solution would be to have him play for a different team for the next season. Either way, hopefully the Danish International will impress while away so Chelsea can add another excellent young defender to their future team.
