Chelsea To Replace Terry With Barcelona Star Gerard Pique

With John Terry probably in his last year at Chelsea, Mourinho is looking to bring in an experienced and highly rated player. According to Metro, Barcelona’s Gerard Pique is the man for the job. The 27 year old who has lost contact with the Spanish side’s starting eleven for about a year or so will be offered a deal this winter. The center back has already been linked to Manchester United as well.

Hopefully Chelsea will be more tempting for Pique who is used to winning trophies and competing for the Champions League trophy each year. Currently Manchester are not able to provide either of those possibilities as they are undergoing a transformation process.

Even if Terry is currently a lot more efficient and active than Pique, Chelsea still need to think about their future. The Spaniard’s statements that he would like to end his career in Barcelona don’t seem to matter that much for Mourinho who looks confident he can convince the 27 year old Chelsea could become his new home. It will not be as easy as it was with Fabregas though whose career could be pretty similar to that of Pique.

Pique was Barcelona’s captain on several occasions and has only had problems for the past few months. Motivation seems to be lacking from the Spaniard’s attitude which is somewhat understandable considering he won every possible trophy over the past 6 years. The idea of starting new with Chelsea could be a strong incentive for Mourinho to use in order to bring Pique to Stamford Bridge.
