Chelsea To Make Decisive Move On Douglas Costa

The former Gremio player who spent 5 years performing for Shakhtar is looking to leave Ukraine earlier than expected. Even though his contract is about to expire in 2018, the Brazilian is definitely interested in a move to boost his career and also get away from the unpleasant situations caused by the war which has destroyed the team’s home town. The 24 year old who should be able to play, just like Schurrle, in three different positions, was targeted by Mourinho even since January when he was supposed to come to London at the same time with Cuadrado. Unfortunately negotiations broke down and Chelsea decided to wait until the summer.

Douglas Costa is also targeted by Arsenal and Manchester United but according to the Daily Express, he is closer to Chelsea than ever. The right price for the Brazilian seems to be around £20million which can probably be covered if Mourinho sells Salah. It would be a strange situation though if Costa is indeed signed because of his predominant right winger skills. Cuadrado, William and he have similar profiles with all three being able to play down the middle or on the left. Unfortunately all shine on the same side including Salah.

Mourinho might be trying to find a perfect right winger just as he did find on the left side by making Hazard the only choice for that position. Signing Costa would give him the option to make sure the right side is covered and that Oscar and Hazard also have a back-up in case something goes wrong.
