According to ESPNFC, Mourinho has given up hopes for the Premier League title as he decided he will rest some of his most important players against Liverpool. With only a few days until the match, the Blues still have a small chance to claim first place. For that to happen they should defeat Liverpool and wait for them to slip up probably against Newcastle. There are three matches left until the end of the season and Mourinho hinted that the Blues don’t want to risk losing a place in the Champions League final for that small chance to win the Premier League.

Mourinho insisted that the choice is not entirely his to make. It appears that the entire club has come to agree that the Champions League is a lot more achievable than the Premier League title, especially given the circumstances. After finishing the match against Atletico in a draw, Chelsea have a great chance of making it to the final. Deciding between the two must have been difficult but statistics show, the Portuguese boss’s decision to rest his start players against Liverpool is the better way to go.

Chelsea’s manager recently declared that the Premier League’s honor is at stake which makes the game against Atletico much more important. Even so, many say, this is just a tactic meant to relax Liverpool’s players before the game. It is not like Mourinho to give up especially when two such important trophies are still on the table.
