Chelsea To Face Lukaku This Weekend

Chelsea will be facing Romelu Lukaku in Everton colours, after Roberto Martinez confirmed the Belgian striker is striving to be fit for the clash against the club that did not give him the chance to display his qualities, as the Daily Mail are reporting.

The Blues have gone through a revamp this summer that has see the club lose several of their experienced players in Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole. John Terry was retained for one more season, and the club captain will be in-charge of getting the squad together before he likely prepares to leave the club next season. The club are undoubtedly looking to win the Barclays Premier League crown, and they have invested in players like Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis to help them achieve that goal.

Lukaku’s journey at Chelsea can be termed as interrupted and inconsistent, as the player never got the chance to prove his mettle at Stamford Bridge. The tall attacker was touted as a possible successor to club legend Didier Drogba, but was immediately sent out on a loan spell. This has a lot to do with the way Chelsea has transitioned as a club, where youngsters with immense potential do not get an opportunity to earn a place in the first team.

Chelsea winger, Christian Atsu cannot participate in the game as Premier League rules do not allow him to turn out for Everton to face his parent club.
