Chelsea Thump Everton 5-0 As Hazard Shines

Conte set out with the perfect combination of tactics, attitude and players apparently as Chelsea demolished one of their toughest early season opponents. Everton have always been a very tough nut to crack especially during the beginning of the season. The Toffees were no match for the new look Chelsea side on this occasion however. The Italian boss has managed to inspire, motivate and revive a squad that although had massive stars, was not performing well last campaign. Conte has added some key players but has been able to harness the talent of the clubs top players like Costa and most notably Eden Hazard to make Chelsea genuine title challengers. These players were simply not thriving under Mourinho’s supervision last season for some reason. This Saturday’s game was clear proof that you need to know how to handle your best assets. Hazard is the perfect example. His recent performances impressed the fans to such an extent that they ended up calling the Belgium international an “out of this world” player. To be fair, his recent form with superb control over the ball and great vision has been top notch and of course goals like the 2 he got yesterday have certainly helped restore the Belgian’s confidence. It looks like the attacker has definitely got past the rough patch he dealt with last year. Conte had this to say about Hazard as reported by the BBC,

“Eden Hazard played an impressive game. We all know he is a talented player. I see he is working a lot for the team and his team-mates are very happy for this. He must continue – he is showing his talent in every game.”

Another good example of how having people skills and the right attitude towards your players can motivate someone’s world class performances is Pedro. The Spaniard was brilliant at Barcelona and started very well at Stamford Bridge. He faded away and was close to leaving London after playing a couple of months under Mourinho. Now, with Conte things have changed and the winger shines with every chance he gets. Even though his goal against Everton was a bit lucky he deserved it. He was determined, he was fast and he showed that he is capable of building a great on-pitch relationship with Chelsea’s best.

Matic, Costa and the rest of the squad all seem like they are on the same page with the Italian manager who looks on course for good things at Stamford Bridge. With a bit more time for all the players to adapt to the 3-4-3 formation, the 5-0 win against Everton will not come as such a shock in the near future. It seems like the system is confusing opponents and Conte has found a way to give each and every one of his players the position they can play in well so things are going well. Hopefully this home win will be linked to another victory against Middlesbrough which would, without a doubt, give Chelsea the proper morale to face Spurs and then Manchester City. With a bit of luck, The Blues could finish 2016 at the top of the Premier League table which let’s be honest, not many people expected at the beginning of the season.
