Chelsea Thinking Of Recouping Some Of The Money Spent On Torres

It seems that the time has come to see Torres give something back to Chelsea. In his 3 years spent at Stamford Bridge he managed to produce a dreadful scoring rate of one goal every 6 matches. The Spaniard was clearly incapable of adapting to the way things are done in London. He is considered one of the Premier League’s biggest flops, costing Chelsea £50 million which with some simple maths adds up to a cost of £2.5million per goal. According to the Daily Mail, the 30 year old might earn the club some of that money back by agreeing to return to his former club, Atletico Madrid.

It is somewhat improbable to see him take Costa’s place in Simeone’s squad. The reason behind that feeling is the fact that Chelsea have already bought two important players from the Spanish side and have never included Torres in the negotiation process. It is very hard to believe that after closing two deals with Atletico, Chelsea did not include Torres in either deal if they were keen to offload him.

Monaco on the other hand might want to use Torres as part of the way to replace James Rodriguez who recently signed with Real. Torres could bring as much as £20million to Stamford Bridge if the French decide they do need another goal scorer. Unfortunately for the Spaniard his transfer may depend on whether Falcao leaves or stays.
