Chelsea Target English Left Back

Chelsea Target English Left Back

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a move for Spurs left back Danny Rose. The Blues have apparently been told by Tottenham stump up £15 million for the defender, who has impressed in the last couple of seasons for the north London club.

Chelsea are in the market for a left back after allowing Filipe Luis to return to Atletico Madrid with the Brazilian spending just 1 miserable season at Stamford Bridge. Mourinho is apparently willing to reinvest the £15m made on Luis’ sale, but anymore might be a step too far for the Chelsea boss with the Portuguese still waiting to acquire the services of John Stones for upwards of £30m.

Chelsea were said to be interested in Ghana international Abdul Baba Rahman, with the Augsburg left back being available at around £17.5 million. However, it seems Mourinho sees that fee as something far too extortionate for a relatively unproven player.

With Danny Rose on Mourinho’s radar, it is fairly likely that the 25-year-old has become Chelsea’s top target at left back, and why not? The Englishman has plenty of Premier League experience, with over 60 appearances under his belt at Spurs, and a further 27 from his time at Sunderland whilst on loan. Experience in English football is a big factor for most players, but it’s something Rahman does not possess.

Some reports are suggesting that Mourinho wants the deal for Rose wrapped up by the weekend, with him eager to have his squad complete as soon as possible.
